About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Alexis and I am a 30-something year old born and raised in Miami, Florida. I am now going into my 4th year of teaching and I love it! I can't imagine doing anything else. I received my bachelors in Biology and my Master's in Environmental Science from Florida International University. I wanted to be a Conservation Biologist and save the world, but tried my hand at teaching in 2012 and fell in love with the profession. My first year I taught 6th and 7th grade science at an inner city school. My second year I moved to a new school and taught all 7th grade science. This past year I was moved to 8th grade science and Honors Biology for 8th grade gifted students. Needless to say, I have had my fair share of subjects!

I am a complete science nerd and love everything that has to do with new discoveries and our outside world.  I do get called the crazy science teacher or the crazy hippie lady at work (with the occasional Mrs. Frizzle reference), but I take it in stride. I am a newly wed (December 2014) and a new mom (December 2016) to our beautiful little girl. I am enjoying every minute of it! My husband and I have 2 beautiful bulldogs that we adopted June of 2014. They have changed us for the better! One of the best decisions we ever made :)

My sisters are my best friends. I am extremely lucky to have them in my life and to be so close to them!
